BC TOPS O.CLUB 13 -11 TO WIN NCLA CHAMPIONSHIP

Another sunny morning in Sausalito, only this time the stakes were a little higher as BC met the friendly, neighborhood Olympic Club for the Northern California championship showdown.  If the 2015 season has been the progression of a new BC team bonding and discovering its new identity, this game was the culmination of that effort.

After a seesaw scoreboard throughout the first half of the game, Barbary Coast stepped on the gas in the third quarter by playing selfless, team-first lacrosse that kept Olympic Club on their defensive heels for the remainder of the game.  BC would be up +4 throughout most of the game but O.Club, never one to go down quietly, hung tough and put in goals only to have those matched by a deep Barbary bench.  When the dust finally settled, BC put in 13 with Olympic Club just two behind at 11.

The highlights and honorable mentions for this game were numerous:

• Attendance by Andy Doten who made the trip from Chicago.
• Strong goalie play by Tyler Page, Matt Levy, and Mark Bloomquist.
• Face-off wins by Mike “Daddy’s Home” Vila.
• Very well aged, top-corner cheddar from Kevin Busch and AJ Von Massenhausen.
• Max T serving up assists for everyone.
• Frank Cuneo with so many sexy, unnecessary BTB passes.
• Takeaway checks by Pat Connelly.
• Tireless transition play by middies Nick Richards, Ross Rudow, Logan Quinn, Kyle Jordan.
• Blair Allison.
• Tom Jackson.
• Sasha Dansky’s shepherding of referees.
• Scott Atkinson’s halftime appearance via FaceTime.
• BC family, friends, fans on the sideline cheering the team on.
• Tupelo.
