2017 Launches with Pre-Season Friendly at Cal Berkeley

The University of California Berkeley Bears invited Barbary Coast to a friendly, pre-season scrimmage held at the California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. Barbary jumped out to an early lead over a talented Bears team with Yosef Becher and Logan Quinn getting the BC office rolling with a pair of back-to-back goals. A disciplined and well-coached Bears team controlled the face-off X for the majority of the game, placing pressure on the BC midfield and defense to get the ball back and clear effectively. 2016 Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament Wrap-Up

This summer Barbary Coast headed up to Lake Tahoe for the annual Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament by High Sierra Lacrosse in Incline Village. BC came out firing on Friday, earning a 10-1 win over NCLA-based Palo Alto in the morning and a 14-4 win over Chico in the afternoon.  After shaking off Friday night's morning dew, BC squeezed out an 8-7 win over the SF-based Dub C in the quarterfinals on Saturday. BC 8 – Marin 6 in Second Meeting of 2016

Thursday night, Beach Chalet Sports Complex, West end of Golden Gate Park, SF. Turf, field lights, beach in sight. Barbary Coast faces off against Marin for a weeknight game, BC's second of three games in one week. BC came out fired up and ready to play, jumping out to an early lead thanks to dominant faceoff play by Matt Rudow, Kyle Jordan, Frank Cuneo, and Nigel Carr.  Goals from Steve Caditz (1), Cito Williams (2), and Kevin Nguyen (2) gave BC a 5-0 lead at halftime. Olympic Club Edges 9-8 Win Over BC in First League Meeting of 2016

Another Saturday in Sausalito found BC matched up against the always-talented Olympic Club in the first league meeting between the two teams in 2016. Strong draws and a successful ground ball game at the faceoff X allowed Olympic Club to jump out to an early lead.  Scrappy faceoff play by Matt Rudow, Kyle Jordan, Frank Cuneo, and Mik Tareen allowed BC to earn several possessions converted into goals by Kevin Busch, Logan Quinn, and Kevin Nguyen that closed the scoring gap slightly.  The remainder of the game featured back-and-forth goal scoring among each team, with a well-oiled Olympic Club...

BC Jumps to 4 and 0 after Defeating CaliLove

Saturday. Sausalito. Sunshine, lacrosse, victory, family/friends, cold beer. Another league game down for Barbary Coast as the squad remains undefeated, climbing to 4-0 in the 2016 season.  BC and CaliLove followed up a close battle between Marin and Olympic Club on Saturday, April 30th.  The first half was somewhat sloppy with unforced turnovers and wide-shots keeping BC from getting into an offensive rhythm.  Fortunately, Kevin "Shaolin" Nguyen graced the team with his presence after returning from sabbatical in Cabo San Lucas, carrying the team early in the game with a hat-trick in the first...

Spring Break in Portland: BC Undefeated On and Off the Field

Barbary headed North to the city of Portland, Oregon for some vacation, team-bonding, and an opportunity to meet another out-of-state opponent - Rip City. BC followed up a 6pm contest between two top Seattle/Oregon teams with an 8pm game against Portland-based Rip City.  The game was marked by the friendly competition and hard-nosed play characteristics of West Coast lacrosse with BC ending up on top with a 9-5 win.  A massive thank you to the Rich and the Rip City squad for hosting the game and for being so welcoming, we will hopefully meet again in the future. Barbary Wins 9-5 Over East Bay in Season Opener

In the first league game of the 2016 season, BC headed out to Orinda, CA to play the talented and growing East Bay Athletics.  The mid-day contest enjoyed a cloudless, sunny sky and 75 degree temperature, field turf courtesy of Miramonte High School, warm-up soundsystem/soundtrack by East Bay, and a host of friends and family as fans. Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament Wrap-Up

This summer Barbary Coast headed up to Lake Tahoe for the annual Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament by High Sierra Lacrosse in Incline Village.  BC came out hot on Friday, jumping out on the heavily-favored Adrenaline Tropics and beating them convincingly.  This key initial win was augmented shortly thereafter by a win over the Oregon-based Big Foot team, goals for everyone on the short field.  Saturday saw BC succumb to a very talented underdog, SD Shooterz from Southern California, in an early-morning game and again to well-oiled Olympic Club team in the afternoon.  Barbary enjoyed two more...

BARBARY COAST 2015 CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPIONS

After wrestling the California trophy away from Olympic Club in a tight Northern California Championship game played in Sausalito, Barbary Coast had to best a final opponent before the trophy was wholly ours.  BC headed down to face the talented Beverly Hills Bucks in the CA State Championship held at Culver City High School in greater Los Angeles. BC started out with a bang, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and keeping the Bucks well away from contention all the way to an 8-2 halftime score.
